Following on from last years 'The Long Year' (Stolen Body Records) and this years 'The Continuous Katherine Mortenhoe' (Library Of The Occult Records) - Ivan The Tolerable returns with 'The Aleph' - his first for Echodelick. Recorded in the first half of 2022, Heffernan is joined by regular players Mees Siderius and Ben Hopkinson and for the first time featuring Thomas House (Sweet Williams/Haress) on guitar and mixing duties. The album was recorded on and off over a few months in England, Spain and The Netherlands and is loosely based the Borges story of the same name - the idea of a point in space that contains all other points, from where you can see everything in the universe from every angle simultaneously, without distortion, overlapping, or confusion.

On this album, Ivan the Tolerable's music lives somewhere in the intersection between David Bowie's Low/Heroes-era saxophone-punctuated electronica and atmospheric drone, free jazz, and krautrock. Any album that both can do this well and sample electronica pioneer Delia Derbyshire’s 1965 Radiophonic Workshop interview (track #5, waves) is a winner in my book. Excellent album. Warpfan
